The ongoing curfew in the districts of Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Jaffna in the Northern Province has been extended till 6.00 am on Tuesday (24). Curfew in these districts will be re-imposed at 2.00pm on the same day. People living in the 5 districts in the Northern Province are prohibited to leave their district. This travel restriction will be effective until everyone who met and in touch with the Corona-infected Pastor who came from Switzerland and toured in the North, are identified. This decision has been taken to protect the communities living in these districts. The Government requests the people in the North to extend their fullest cooperation towards the measures taken to ensure their well-being. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) to provide free Internet facilities for all undergraduates in State universities, who had registered for e-learning, so they may without interruption continue with their education.

 

All relevant details of these registered students have already been provided to the TRCSL by the University Administration and the University Grants Commission. Steps have been taken for this program to commence from Monday (23), Director General of the TRCSL  Oshadha Senanayaka stated.

 

Until the prevailing situation in the country returns to normalcy, Internet facilities will be thus provided free of charge.
